The CAST-USA YEC (Young Eagles Cup) is one of the flagship programs of CAST-USA Education. It aims to promote STEM education, innovation, collaboration and communication skills among youth through creating and building technology projects and products.  The top 10 participating student or teams will be selected as the finalists to be invited to the 30th CAST-USA Annual Convention and Global Innovation Summit. 

Key Fact

There will be a roadshow and prize for each of the finalists. There would be a designated session for the finalists to virtually meet and greet with the world class scientists and entrepreneurs at the conference.

Participant Requirement

7-12th grade school students in Fall 2022 or equivalent. 

Project Requirement

Innovative: Independently built or discovered, IP owned by applicant
Practical: can be applied to real world situations

Application Procedure

1.  Fill out the application form below with the detailed description of the project and the team.
2. Email personal information with photos, description of project, project demo slides in .ppt format, and 2 minutes demo video to [email protected] with "CAST-YEC" followed by the project name on the subject line.
3.  Application fee: $75 for members children and $120 for non-members (non-refundable).  Please click here to apply for membership.

Scoring Criteria

Innovative: 25%, Practicality: 25% , Economic Value: 25%, Presentation: 25%

Prize

Gold Medal (1): $350, Silver Medal (3): $150, Bronze Medal (5): $75 

Finals Procedure 

The finalists will be notified in the second week of September. Failing to attend the Finals Day will nullify the chance to win a prize.
On Finals Day: Every team has 5 minutes to do the virtual presentation, followed by 3 minutes Q&A.
Award Ceremony: The awards will be presented at the CAST-USA Convention Award Ceremony (in the middle of Oct 2022. The exact date is to be finalized very soon).
The finalists will be honorarily mentioned in the convention program booklet and be awarded with one-year complimentary membership of CAST-USA.
